OWA Presents: Colio Estate Wines & Pelee Island Winery

  • The Chefs' House 215 King Street East Toronto, ON, M5A 1J9 Canada (map)

The Chefs' House is delighted to welcome the teams from noted Ontario wineries, Colio Winery, and Pelee Island Winery, for an exclusive wine dinner. This four-course wine pairing dinner will feature premium, small-batch wines from both wineries.

The Colio Estate Wines story is one of patience, determination, and perseverance – qualities that remain today at the heart of our winemaking practices and spirit.

Southern Ontario has been home to Canada’s wine industry since the prohibition of alcohol in the early 20th century. It was here in Lake Erie North Shore, the southernmost and warmest wine appellation region of Ontario, that three Italian bricklayers named Alfredo, Enzo and Tiberio decided to fulfill their life dream of building a world-class winery.

The bricklayers sought the help of winemaking experts from Udine, Italy to help make their dreams a reality. But they soon faced a big predicament when their winery partners pulled out. Rather than “throw in the trowel,” they worked diligently and found winemaking experts who shared their brick-by-brick determination to build Colio Estate Wines near the sunny shores of Lake Erie. Following prohibition, Colio received the first winery license to be granted in Southwestern Ontario.

Pelee Island is home to a 700+ acre farm in Canada’s warmest grape growing region with a winemaking history dating back more than 150 years. The team welcomes you to explore our diverse selection of approachable wines that are crafted for the most important people in the world, our customers. They pride theirselves on consistently producing exceptional wines in an ecologically conscious manner that will exceed your expectations and have you return to discover us again and again.

Both wineries have won awards at the Ontario Wine Awards.

The evening will begin with a selection of canapés, followed by a four-course meal paired with wines.

Tickets are limited and priced at $125 + HST and Eventbrite processing fees.
